After he was named in a lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein regarding the producer's alleged sexual harassment, Milwaukee Buck’s co-owner Marc Lasry said he was not aware of the alleged abuse.
Our partners at the Milwaukee Business Journal reported that a spokesman for the Bucks and Lasry’s business, Avenue Capital, didn’t offer a comment about the suit on Friday. But Lasry did respond to questions on CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street.”
During the appearance, he said he had “no knowledge” of the Hollywood producers accused sexual misconduct.
“As soon as I found out — which was a couple days before everybody else — we had a board call,” Lasry said. “I then resigned the following day. So look, I understand and I think what ended up happening just wasn’t ... what he did was wrong.”
Lasry resigned on Oct. 6, along with other board members.
“First of all, if everybody knew, why didn’t anyone tell me?” Lasry said. “Nobody called, nobody sent me emails, nobody said ‘Hey by the way, you should know that.’...A lot of board members just didn’t know. And everybody can say today it was an open secret. If it was so open, it would have been nice if somebody had called or somebody had said anything.”
Also, when asked if he was in contact with Weinstein recently, he said, “No. Not at all.”
