Pets Of America: 180 Greyhounds Need Adoption! They are built for speed; sleek and lean with powerful engines. But when they retire, greyhounds are virtual couch potatoes, known for their sweet disposition and love of attention. They make loyal, loving pets. Because of a sudden influx of racing dogs in Wisconsin, Greyhound Pets of America needs to find homes for as many as 180 greyhounds very soon. The dogs have retired from racing and will face euthanasia if they aren’t adopted. Saturday, October 11th is Greyhound Pets of America’s annual Greyhound Gala. The group will have lots of dogs at the Waukesha Expo Center from 10-4 so people can meet them in person. Fifteen of those dogs will be available for adoption. Those visiting can fill out an application on site and begin the adoption process immediately. The event is also a fundraiser to finance the care of dogs in the organization’s care. Adoptions are done carefully. People and their families are matched with a dog that best suits their lifestyle. The adoption fee is a mere 200 dollars (a bargain for a purebred animal).
